(Washington D.C., Wednesday, June 1, 2022) – The rise in temperature during the upcoming summer months can increase the risk associated with defective recalled airbags. When exposed over time to heat and humidity, recalled airbags can transform from life-saving devices to life-threatening ones – in a crash, they could rupture and cause injury or death.

To help keep drivers safe heading into the summer heat, Check To Protect – a coalition led by the National Safety Council – has designated June as Airbag Recall Repair Month. This statewide campaign aims to encourage drivers of all vehicles to make safety a priority by taking immediate action to prevent serious injury and death. Airbag Recall Repair Month raises awareness of the importance of checking for airbag recalls at CheckToProtect.org and getting these and other safety recalls repaired for free.

Chris Freeman, Spokesperson, Airbag Recall Repair Month, explains the importance of checking your vehicle for recalled airbags to help ensure you and your loved ones are safe on the roads this summer.
