(Mattapoisett, MA, Monday, December 7, 2020) – All Hands and Hearts is a volunteer-powered nonprofit that effectively and efficiently addresses the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters around the globe. By listening to local people, and deploying its direct-impact model, its teams are able to rebuild safe, resilient schools, homes and other community infrastructure.

In September, they launched DM12, a volunteer initiative built on the organization’s 15 years of disaster relief experience. This initiative is designed to make it safer for volunteers to work during the pandemic. In addition to many safety measures they have implemented, they support, train and cover the expenses of participants.

Lauren Muldowney, Chief of Volunteer Experience, provides more information.

SOUNDBITE #1:

VOLUNTEERS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AT THE HEART OF OUR MISSION TO ASSIST COMMUNITIES DEVASTATED BY DISASTERS. WE’VE HEARD FROM MANY PEOPLE THAT THE COVID-NINETEEN CRISIS HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED THEIR LIVES AND THEY WANT TO CONTRIBUTE TO A MEANINGFUL CAUSE. WE’VE DEVELOPED DM12 TO SAFELY OPERATE AROUND THE WORLD, WHILE PROVIDING PARTICIPANTS WITH NEW SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES.

SOUNDBITE #2:

BY VOLUNTEERING WITH OUR ORGANIZATION, YOU BECOME PART OF A DEDICATED TEAM. YOU’LL ARRIVE WITH A COHORT OF VOLUNTEERS WHO YOU WILL TRAIN, WORK AND LIVE WITH, ALONGSIDE OUR STAFF TEAM. THIS IS A WAY TO MAKE A MEANINGFUL DIFFERENCE FOR COMMUNITIES DEVASTATED BY THE DUAL CRISIS OF NATURAL DISASTERS AND THE PANDEMIC, WHILE GAINING NEW SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES.
