(Columbus, OH, Wednesday, July 6, 2022) – Ohioans already cast votes in a statewide primary election on May 3, but the ballots were missing key state and Congressional legislative races. Due to the redistricting cases going on since Dec. 2021, there were no official maps or legislative districts instituted in time for the first primary date. As a result, this second primary election is being held August 2, 2022 for those races, which include candidates running for the Ohio Statehouse and U.S. Congress.
All Voting is Local is a voting advocacy group that is working to clarify confusion about the primaries. AVIL urges voters to vote early – either through absentee/mail-in voting or by dropping in to their local BOE. The May 3 primary saw a 40% decline in the number of early vote requests from voters in comparison to the 2018 election, and the advocacy group wants to provide your listeners with all the information and resources they need to cast their ballots in time and be ready to cast an informed vote, regardless of any external conflicts.
