(Washington, D.C., Thursday, July 16, 2020) – The National Safety Council’s Check To Protect campaign is launching a first-of-its-kind service to improve consumer awareness of safety recalls. The new Vehicle Recall Concierge Platform enables consumers to identify and stay up to date on vehicle safety recalls via text message through a proprietary platform, MyCarRecall. Any driver can text RECALL to 99724 to receive English-language communications or REVISA to 99724 to receive Spanish-language communications that alert them of an open recall, and provide support in getting it repaired.
The goal is to raise awareness for the importance of getting vehicle safety recalls fixed, to increase awareness of how dangerous they can be if they go unrepaired, and to support all drivers in checking their recall status and repairing their vehicles.
Kelly Nantel, vice president of roadway practice at the National Safety Council, explains the new platform.
SAFETY RECALLS ARE URGENT AND THE MATTER THAT’S UNDER RECALL COULD PUT A DRIVER AND THEIR PASSENGERS AT RISK. BEFORE YOU GET IN THE CAR, TAKE THIS SIMPLE STEP TO PROTECT YOUR FAMILY BY CHECKING FOR OPEN RECALLS NOW AND THEN SCHEDULING A REPAIR. ALL SAFETY RECALL REPAIRS ARE FREE AT ALL AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIPS, EVEN IF THE VEHICLE WASN’T PURCHASED OR SERVICED AT THAT DEALERSHIP AND DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTERS ARE OPEN AND TAKING ALL NECESSARY HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.
WITH THIS NEW PLATFORM, IT’S REALLY EASY TO PROTECT YOUR LOVED ONES AND CHECK FOR SAFETY RECALLS. THE NEW TECHNOLOGY IS QUICK AND ELIMINATES THE NEED FOR DRIVERS TO TRACK DOWN THEIR VEHICLE’S SEVENTEEN-DIGIT VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER, ENTER IT ONLINE, AND FIND A LOCAL DEALER FOR THE FREE REPAIR. NOW, ANYONE CAN TEXT IN THEIR LICENSE PLATE NUMBER TO CHECK FOR SAFETY RECALLS AND GET HELP SCHEDULING A REPAIR.
