(Bentonville, AR, Wednesday, September 7, 2022) – The ability to receive groceries and other essentials at home has been critical to pandemic life for many Americans. In fact, nearly 80% of U.S. consumers have shopped online for groceries since COVID-19 began. At the same time, the ability to set their own schedule while earning money has been a key selling point for independent contractors who fulfill grocery and retail delivery orders.

A Bankrate survey found that 41% of Americans need additional income. Many Americans are choosing to gain that additional income by taking gig opportunities. As inflation and prices continue to impact the nation, earning extra cash from side hustles may become even more critical for Americans.

Christina Hinssen, a driver on the Spark Driver platform in Ohio, shares more about her experience and how it’s helped her make extra money.

SOUNDBITE #1:

DRIVING ON THE PLATFORM HAS GIVEN ME FREEDOM AND FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE. I DECIDE WHEN, WHERE, HOW OFTEN, AND WHAT I DELIVER. I LOVE THE FLEXIBILITY TO DETERMINE WHEN I WANT TO MAKE DELIVERIES AND SPEND EXTRA TIME WITH MY DAUGHTER. MY EARNINGS GIVE ME THE EXTRA CASH I NEED, AND I CAN MAKE EVEN MORE DEPENDING ON HOW FAR I’M DRIVING AND WHAT I’M DELIVERING. I ALSO KNOW I CAN RELY ON A STEADY STREAM OF OPPORTUNITIES.

SOUNDBITE #2:

IT’S MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN MY LIFE. IT GIVES ME FLEXIBILITY TO DRIVE AND EARN AND I CONTROL WHEN I WANT TO DRIVE OR SPEND MORE TIME WITH MY DAUGHTER. I’VE ALSO EARNED EXTRA CASH TO PAY OFF MY CAR AND MAKE EXTRA HOUSE PAYMENTS. AND, THANKS TO THIS SIDE GIG, MY HOUSE IS HALFWAY PAID OFF.
