Dear PSA Director,
Childhood grief is a deeply profound and often overlooked aspect of a young person’s life. Whether due to the death of a parent, sibling, or close family member, navigating grief at a young age presents unique challenges that can have lasting effects on a child’s emotional well-being and development.
The partnership between First Book and the New York Life Foundation provides educational resources to communities nationwide. The goal is to address the need for increased support and understanding around childhood grief, helping young people and their families navigate this profound experience.
In this PSA campaign from First Book and New York Life Foundation, we discover how connecting with characters in stories can help children and young people stay connected to the ones they’ve lost, encouraging them to open up to those around them and explore their feelings.
As a leading nonprofit, First Book’s mission is to bring high-quality book and resources to educators serving children in need. With support from New York Life Foundation, this campaign seeks to increase access to bereavement books and resources among educators in underserved communities.
To learn more about how educators and parents can access valuable resources to support grieving children, please go to //Firstbook.org/GriefSupport.
We hope you will support this initiative by broadcasting the enclosed spots whenever public service time is available throughout the year. The PSAs are evergreen; there is no end date. This is the first in a series of 3 – the second is launching August 1 and the final on Oct 1.
Thank you!
