Dear PSA Director,
A group of local health care leaders is working to raise awareness of overuse of health care resources and encourage Utahns to talk with their doctors about what tests or treatments are right for them.
The Choosing Wisely Utah campaign seeks to help patients and doctors think and talk about unnecessary care, and to find treatments that offer the most health benefit.
Saskia Spiess, family physician at the University of Utah, Madsen Family Health Center says that there are a number of common practices that should be questioned.
To learn more about having these conversations, visit www.healthinsight.org/choose. Please add this PSA into heavy rotation between now and January 31, 2014.
Thanks you in advance for your support.

WHAT THIS CAMPAIGN IS SAYING, FOR EXAMPLE, IS THAT TAKING ANTIBIOTICS FOR A SORE THROAT, COUGH, OR RUNNY NOSE IS NOT NECESSARILY THE BEST TREATMENT AND YOU SHOULD TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT CARE THAT WILL REALLY BENEFIT YOU. BY ASKING QUESTIONS AND HAVING A CONVERSATION, PATIENTS AND THEIR DOCTORS CAN WORK TOGETHER TO ENSURE THEY RECEIVE THE RIGHT CARE AT THE RIGHT TIME.
