ANNOUNCER: Starting kindergarten is one of the biggest and most important transitions in early childhood, but 75% of families across South Carolina say they need some help getting their child ready for kindergarten. A new statewide virtual event is designed to help change that.

Ready for Kindergarten LIVE takes place April 24th at 12 p.m. It’s a free, one-hour online event helping parents, caregivers, and early childhood professionals understand what children need before kindergarten—and how to support those skills at home.

The program features experts who will break down what school readiness really means, highlight the skills that matter most in the classroom, share free programs and resources, and offer practical ways families can prepare ahead of the school year.

Participants can also submit questions and get clear, doable steps to help children start kindergarten with confidence.

Hosted by South Carolina First Steps, the event is open to anyone supporting young children.

If you can’t make the live session, it will be available on demand.
