UPS Celebrates Another Year of Setting the Standard for Driving Safety
Tom Camp, UPS Driver
(Atlanta, GA, Tuesday, February 27, 2018) – One company continues to set the standard for on-the-road safety year after year. UPS announces the induction of 1,582 drivers into its elite “Circle of Honor,” raising the number of drivers who have steered clear of accidents for 25 years or more to 10,503. Collectively, the drivers have logged more than 14 billion miles and more than 257,000 years of safe driving through their careers. That’s enough miles to circle the earth 547,000 times.
Michigan Driver Tom Camp, who has driven more than half a century and delivered more than 5 million packages without an accident, discusses tips to being a safe driver.
SOUNDBITE:
BE PATIENT WHILE YOU ARE OUT ON THE ROAD. LEAVE A LOT OF SPACE BETWEEN YOU AND THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF YOU. IN INCLEMENT WEATHER, YOU CAN DOUBLE OR TRIPLE THAT SPACE. DON’T BE USING YOUR SMARTPHONES AND TEXTING, IF YOU MUST USE THESE, YOU SHOULD PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
