(Jacksonville, FL, Tuesday, March 12, 2019) – The Microsoft Software & Systems Academy – or MSSA – is a training program for in-demand careers in the technology industry. The 18-week program is designed for transitioning service members and veterans who have a passion to pursue a career in the IT industry. The technology company partnered with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to provide our country’s military service members with the necessary skills for their next career chapter. The next course at Jacksonville Community Campus begins in July of 2019.

Shawn Lewis, who leads the MSSA program in Jacksonville, shares details on the program.

SOUNDBITE #1:

THE TECH INDUSTRY CONTINUES TO GROW FASTER THAN COMPANIES CAN FIND ENTRY LEVEL TALENT. MILITARY VETERAN TALENT IS HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER BY TECH COMPANIES BECAUSE THE VETERAN SKILLSET IS INCREDIBLY APPLICABLE TO THE TECH INDUSTRY – FROM PROBLEM SOLVING AND CRITICAL THINKING TO LEADERSHIP AND RESILIENCY. THERE ARE PROGRAMS IN THE JACKSONVILLE AREA AVAILABLE FOR TRANSITIONING SERVICE MEMBERS AND VETERANS THAT TRAIN AND HIRE THEM FOR HIGH-TECH CAREERS WITH AN AVERAGE ENTRY LEVEL SALARY OF SEVENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ANNUALLY.

SOUNDBITE #2:

THE SKILLS I LEARNED IN THE MILITARY ARE TRANSFERABLE TO MY CIVILIAN CAREER. TODAY, THERE ARE MANY PATHWAYS FOR VETERANS TRANSITIONING FROM MILITARY LIFE TO TECH CAREERS WITH PROGRAMS LIKE OURS THAT PROVIDE CRITICAL SKILLS REQUIRED IN TODAY’S FAST-GROWING TECH INDUSTRY. ENROLLMENT IS NOW OPEN, SIGN UP TO ATTEND THE NEXT CLASS STARTING IN JULY OF TWO THOUSAND-NINETEEN.
