Dear PSA Director,
Our rapidly changing world requires everyone − regardless of geography, race or socio-economic background − to adapt to and create change for the common good. Changemaking is the idea that, in partnership with others, anyone can apply creative solutions to social problems in their communities.
According to a recent survey of educators serving children in low-income communities, 76% of educators believe that developing changemaker mindsets among young people is an urgent matter. Yet only 30% feel adequately prepared to develop a mindset of social innovation in their students – and 83% want resources for changemaker development for their curricula.
That’s why First Book and Ashoka, with support from Audemars Piguet, have launched Time For Change: Dream, Act, Change Our World, a public service initiative to further educational equity through changemaking. The ongoing initiative equips educators with new, FREE resources (practical tools, books, and step-by-step guidance) built from evidence-based practices for nurturing changemaking. The initiative is addressing the opportunity and resource gap that limits many young people from low- income and historically excluded communities from solving the problems they care about, building from their unique perspectives and lived experiences.
This effort has the power to catalyze a movement to make changemaking the norm for all young people. We hope you will support this initiative by broadcasting the enclosed spots whenever public service time is available throughout the year. The PSAs are evergreen; there is no end date.
