Celebrating the Game-Changing Benefits of Birth Control for Women and to Promote Free and Widespread Access to Birth Control

Ginny Ehrlich, CEO, The National Campaign

(Washington, D.C., Wednesday, November 15, 2017) – More than 85% of all adults agree that birth control is an essential part of health care.

On Wednesday, November 15, 2017, a new public opinion poll will be released as part of The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy’s Thanks, Birth Control Day.

Thanks, Birth Control Day aims to celebrate the game-changing benefits of birth control for women and to promote free and widespread access to birth control.

The poll will indicate that the vast majority of people in the United States support this notion, and the polling data show that this holds true among all people of all ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds and political affiliations. Birth control is not controversial—it is worth celebrating.

The National Campaign encourages individuals nationwide to celebrate Thanks, Birth Control Day on November 15th by posting on social media using the hashtag #ThxBirthControl. A series of shareable social media resources including digital postcards, animated GIFs, and sample social media language are available. There is also an extensive toolkit with resources for activating yourself, your networks, your community, and your elected officials available at TheNationalCampaign.org/ThxBirthControl. You can also get involved by joining our Thunderclap, or participating in the #ThxBirthControl Twitter chat at 2:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday, November 15, co-hosted by Refinery29.
