Dear PSA Director,

Millions of people with chronic conditions who use sharps, needles, lancets or auto injectors outside of a medical facility for medical treatment may have questions about how to get rid of their used sharps safely. New information and resources from NeedyMeds, a national non-profit patient education organization, at SafeNeedleDisposal.org is making it easier for people to dispose of needles safely no matter where they happen to live, work or travel.

Research shows that people who use sharps to manage their medical conditions believe it is their responsibility to dispose of them safely, but lack clear, factual information on what to do. Much of the existing information does not personalize disposal guidelines for people in every state and community.

Please help your listeners find out this important information by placing this PSA in heavy rotation now through Monday, October 15, 2018.

Thank you in advance for your support,

NeedyMeds

THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WHO USE NEEDLES OUTSIDE OF A MEDICAL FACILITY TO TREAT A MEDICAL CONDITION CAN DISPOSE OF THEM AT HOME, BUT NEEDLES THAT ARE NOT DISPOSED OF PROPERLY MAY CAUSE INJURY. SAFE DISPOSAL IS AN EASY PROCESS: PLACE USED NEEDLES IN A STRONG, PLASTIC CONTAINER, SEAL IT WITH DUCT TAPE, LABEL IT “DO NOT RECYCLE,” AND PUT IN THE TRASH. SOME LOCATIONS HAVE DIFFERENT REGULATIONS, SO BE SURE TO GO TO SAFE NEEDLE DISPOSAL DOT ORG TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE REGULATIONS AND OPTIONS IN YOUR AREA.
