(Redmond, WA, Thursday, June 24, 2021) – Today, Microsoft announced Windows 11, a completely refreshed user experience designed to empower productivity and inspire creativity. Microsoft and its partners will bring to market a variety of devices, across form factors and price points, to bring consumers closer to what they love on a platform that has enhanced performance and security. It’s a great time to buy a new PC.
The past 18 months brought an incredible shift in how people use their PCs. People spent more time on Windows than ever – not just working, learning and getting things done, but playing games, binge watching shows and connecting with others. As this was happening, Microsoft was working to modernize and redesign the Windows people know to become the Windows of the future. Windows 11 features include:
- A simplified design for productivity, creativity and ease, including a new Start button and taskbar with a modern look and feel, plus new Snap Layouts, Snap Groups and Desktop features to help organize and optimize screen real estate
- New Microsoft Teams integration in Windows to text, chat, voice or video call anyone, anywhere – no matter the platform or device they’re using (across Windows, Android or iOS)
- Enhanced gaming experience with more immersive graphics, faster load times and access to top PC games through Xbox Game Pass
- A more direct way to access the information, apps and content important to you, including bringing Android apps to Windows for the first time
- Keeping you entertained, up to date and inspired through a new Widget experience and personalized feed
These new features, in addition to improved performance and security enhancements, make Windows 11 the best choice for everyone from businesses to students and developers to gamers. Windows 11 will be available through a free upgrade for eligible Windows 10 PCs and on new PCs beginning this holiday.
