Federal Public/Private Partnership Ramps Up Efforts To Find COVID-19 Treatment Through Combat COVID

June 29, 2021

(Washington, D.C., Tuesday, June 29, 2021) – The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has created a one-stop resource to help individuals and healthcare providers in the fight against COVID-19 called, “Combat COVID.” The Combat COVID website (https://CombatCOVID.hhs.gov) offers information and practical tips about vaccines, potential treatments such as monoclonal antibodies, and information about how to take part in clinical trials for COVID-19 treatments. People can visit the Combat COVID website to learn about these clinical trials and if they may be eligible to join one.

The clinical trials that comprise Combat COVID are supported through a public/private partnership—coordinated by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health—called Accelerating COVID-19 Therapeutic Interventions and Vaccines (ACTIV). ACTIV’s goal is to discover safe and effective treatments and vaccines for COVID-19.

COVID-19 has impacted every community and has hit the Black and Hispanic/Latino communities especially hard. The pandemic’s disproportionate toll on people of color underscores the need for racial and ethnic diversity in clinical trials for preventing and treating COVID-19.
