(Menlo Park, CA, Tuesday, April 21, 2020) – On Tuesday, April 21, Facebook will hold its first ever global digital event for group’s administrators worldwide. The Community Connect: Navigating COVID-19 event includes workshops, as well as peer-to-peer discussions so admins can connect with one another. It will kick off with remarks from Facebook executives, including Mark Zuckerberg and Fidji Simo, the head of the Facebook app, and features some special guests who will discuss resiliency and the importance of community: organizational psychologist at Wharton and bestselling author Adam Grant, and founder and CEO of Thrive Global, Arianna Huffington.

In holding this digital event Facebook wants to ensure group admins around the world have the support and resources they need to manage engaged and healthy communities during this challenging time. Over the next three days, workshops will be held in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, French and Bahasa, with breakout sessions led by community leaders and time for Q&A for direct communication.

In the U.S., more than 4.5 million people have joined COVID-19 support groups on Facebook. More than 3 million people have done the same in Italy, and in the UK, more than 2 million people. As we all adjust to life with more social distancing, community is needed more than ever. Facebook continues to be one of the top platforms people use to get and offer support, find and share information, and connect with one another.
