ANNOUNCER: (:20) RSV, or respiratory syncytial virus, is a serious threat to older adults, leading to thousands of hospitalizations and deaths each year. The good news is that RSV vaccines are now available to help protect adults who are most at risk. Dr. Gail Guerrero-Tucker, with the American Academy of Family Physicians, shares more.
Dr. Gail D. Guerrero-Tucker: (:35) As a physician, I’ve seen how devastating RSV can be, especially for older adults. If you’re 75 or older, or 60 to 74 with a chronic condition like heart disease, severe obesity, or diabetes, the CDC recommends you get vaccinated to protect against severe RSV. RSV vaccines are safe, effective, and can be given at any time of year, including alongside flu or COVID-19 vaccines. And for most, they’re free through Medicare or private insurance. Getting vaccinated is your best defense against RSV so talk to your healthcare provider about your risk and the benefits of vaccination.
ANNOUNCER: (:05) Visit Vaccines.gov to find a vaccine, or CVEEP.org to learn more.
