(Billund, Denmark, Monday, October 21, 2019) – In honor of National Computer Literacy Month, LEGO® Education is reinforcing its mission to help teachers incorporate STEAM learning into classrooms.
According to the World Economic Forum, artificial intelligence will displace 75 million jobs by 2022, but will also create twice as many for those who have the right skills. Recognizing the important role computers and 21st century skills play in our lives; the organization wants to help spread awareness and highlight the need to help address these real-world issues children will soon face.
Early hands-on experience in building and programming automated creations that address real world challenges boosts students’ creativity while helping them develop computational thinking skills that build confidence and help navigate an evolving job landscape increasingly shaped by AI. More than 50% of the students in a Confidence in Learning survey say they need “hands-on experience and tools” to master STEAM subjects, and 97% of teachers believe hands-on, project-based learning is key in building confidence.
These subjects and skills are crucial for children’s futures. Parents and teachers can look for ways to get kids hands-on with computer science, engineering and robotics, such as the programs LEGO Education provides.
