One in Six Children Struggles with Hunger, and 43 Million Americans Live in Poverty
Reverend David Beckmann, President, Bread for the World
(Washington D.C., Thursday, December 14, 2017) – In the United States, 1 in 6 children struggles with hunger, and 43 million Americans live in poverty. In fact, more Americans live in poverty than reside in the state of California.
Bread for the World knows that dramatic progress against hunger and poverty is possible in our time, but only if leaders and policymakers decide to make it a priority. They will persistently urge the Trump administration and Congress to provide help and opportunity to hungry and poor in the United States and around the world.
Bread for the World works to change the policies and conditions that allow hunger to persist and seeks long-term solutions to hunger and advocates on legislation that addresses the root causes of hunger.
