(Detroit, MI, Wednesday, September 21, 2022) – Though Michigan’s democracy and voting rights have been under attack for the last few years, local advocates and everyday Michiganians have continued to stand up and protect democracy. Many conspiracy theorists and other groups continue trying to make voting more difficult by attempting to undermine poll workers and election workers. Nonprofit All Voting is Local fights to eliminate needless and discriminatory barriers to the ballot before they happen, to build a democracy that works for us all.
On Thursday, Sept. 29 at 5:30pm ET, All Voting is Local, League of Women Voters of Michigan, United Way for Southeastern Michigan, and other local partners are hosting a Spirit of Democracy event at the Spirit of Detroit (2 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48226). This is a free community event open to the public, celebrating election workers and strengthening community to protect democracy. The event celebrates the people who make our democracy strong and work to make sure the voices of the people are heard at the ballot box.
