(Seattle, WA, Thursday, April 15, 2021) – Today, Microsoft announced the general availability of Microsoft Edge Kids Mode, a protected online environment for children that gives parents peace of mind as their kids browse the web on a shared device.

According to Microsoft’s research, 58% of U.S. parents with kids 12 and under are concerned with issues that their children face when using digital services, but only about half are actually using a parental control solution.

Enter Kids Mode from Microsoft Edge, the first major browser to offer a free native browsing mode, designed specifically for kids ages 5-8 and 9-12. Kids Mode features a variety of protection guardrails, including:

• Strict tracking prevention that blocks the majority of trackers for maximum privacy and minimum personalized ads.
• Bing SafeSearch, ensuring that adult text, images, and videos are blocked from online searches.
• Customizable access to websites. From the get-go, about 70 popular kid-friendly sites are allowed, but you can fully customize the list in Settings.
• Curated, age-appropriate articles from MSN for Kids for ages 9-12.

These safety features are particularly helpful for families sharing devices. With beautifully designed imagery, bright colors, fun characters and customizable themes, children will love Kids Mode too.

Kids Mode is also easy to use. In Microsoft Edge, simply click on your account profile in the upper right corner and select “Browse in Kids Mode.” Choose the appropriate age range and enter the captivating, kid-friendly space.  If you are on a Mac, download Microsoft Edge here to try out Kids Mode.
