(Washington, D.C. — April 2, 2020) – The National Partnership for Hospice Innovation (NPHI) is launching a nationwide toll-free telephone referral number focused on safely caring for people with serious illnesses at home: 1-844-GET-NPHI (1-844-438-6744).

More than 70 not-for-profit providers of at-home care nationwide joined forces under the umbrella of the NPHI.

Caregivers and others can now reach 70 hospice and palliative care providers nationwide by calling one toll-free number.

When faced with serious illness or end-of-life care, many people prefer a not-for-profit hospice and palliative care provider with deep roots in their community.

According to a recent study conducted by Milliman—an independent risk management, benefits, and technology firm—not-for-profit hospices devote their resources to direct patient care. This includes providing more visits for nursing (10 percent), social work (35 percent) and therapy (twice as much) than the average for-profit hospice. NPHI members also serve as a primary bereavement and grief counseling resource for their entire communities, in addition to supporting those whose family or friends received hospice care from them.
