(Falls Church, VA. Monday, November 11, 2019) – Ceremonies to honor veterans are important, but a retired Marine who served in Iraq and Afghanistan is making sure that older veterans in the mid-Atlantic region are getting more than just accolades.
Nearly 600,000 veterans over 65 live in the mid-Atlantic region. Capital Caring Health helps veterans find benefits they didn’t know they had, fight red tape on their behalf, and provide in-home caregiving help.
Lt. Col. David Benhoff, director of veterans health & support services, has made it his life’s mission to provide meaningful help to veterans in their final days.
SOUNDBITE #1:
VETERANS WHO SERVED IN VIETNAM, THE KOREAN WAR, AND WORLD WAR TWO WERE RAISED NOT TO ASK FOR HELP. THEY HAVE DONE SO MUCH FOR OUR NATION. THEY NEED SOMEONE TO ADVOCATE FOR THEM. WE’VE HELPED THOUSANDS OF VETS IN THE WASHINGTON DC METRO REGION.
SOUNDBITE #2:
VIETNAM VETS HAVE UNIQUE CHALLENGES. THERE ARE FOURTEEN PRESUMPTIVE DISEASES ASSOCIATED WITH AGENT ORANGE. THESE VETS DON’T REALIZE THEY ARE ENTITLED TO BENEFITS. THEY CAN GET COMPENSATION, HEALTH CARE, AND AT-HOME SUPPORT WHEN IT MATTERS MOST.
