New Georgia Project Committed to Register Voters in Underserved Communities

Georgia’s population is growing and becoming increasingly diverse. In the last ten years, the population of our state increased 18%, however, that increase is not reflected in the number of registered voters. Simply put – Georgians are not fully represented at the polls.
The New Georgia Project is working to change that.
The New Georgia Project, a nonpartisan, nonprofit group is solely focused on voter registration, specifically reaching out to underserved communities. Minority populations are much less likely to be registered to vote and according to analysis based on the 2012 Census reports, there are more than 800,000 eligible African Americans, Latinos and Asian American who are not registered to vote in Georgia. The unregistered voting population, particularly from underserved communities, is not an issue for tomorrow – it is at a critical point today.
Georgia law not only allows but encourages private entities to register voters to improve the state’s low registration rates. The New Georgia Project is in compliance with all state and federal laws. The group employs a team of professionals that engage in a formalized voter registration process to ensure all outreach activities remain safe, effective, and secure.
Every vote counts, so we hope that you will make your listeners aware of this campaign to register voters by placing this PSA in heavy rotation between now and Wednesday, August 20, 2014.
