The Peterson Center on Healthcare, a new organization established by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, is investing two-hundred million dollars to make high-quality, affordable healthcare a reality for all Americans. One of the Center’s first initiatives is a study from Stanford University, examining 15,000 primary care practices. Researchers identified a small number of practices providing significantly higher-quality, lower-cost care to their patients.
Jeffrey Selberg, executive director of the Center, says the findings point to bright spots in U.S. healthcare in locations including big cities, suburbs and rural areas.

THROUGH THE STUDY WE KNOW WHAT STEPS PRACTICES OF ANY SIZE CAN TAKE TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF CARE AND LOWER COSTS. NOW WE NEED TO FACILITATE THE ADOPTION OF THESE INNOVATIONS ON A NATIONAL SCALE, AND BY DOING SO, U.S. HEALTHCARE CAN BE TRANSFORMED INTO A SYSTEM THAT DELIVERS THE CARE AMERICANS DESERVE AT AN AFFORDABLE COST.
