(INTRO)
Tree branches and vegetation can affect your electric service. This Arbor Day, remember to plant the Right Tree in the Right Place.
Florida Power & Light’s Eli Viamontes has helpful tips to consider before you plant any trees or bushes.
(VIAMONTES)
BY MAKING INFORMED LANDSCAPING CHOICES, YOU CAN HELP PREVENT POWER OUTAGES AND FLICKERS. BEFORE SELECTING A TREE OR BUSH TO PLANT, DETERMINE HOW LARGE IT WILL BE AT MATURITY. IF IT GROWS TOO CLOSE TO A POWER LINE, IT COULD INTERFERE WITH YOUR ELECTRIC SERVICE AND CREATE A HAZARD. TO BE SAFE, NEVER ATTEMPT TO TRIM VEGETATION NEAR POWER LINES YOURSELF – USE ONLY TRAINED PROFESSIONALS. AND REMEMBER, SOME UTILITY LINES ARE LOCATED UNDERGROUND, SO CALL 8-1-1 AT LEAST TWO FULL BUSINESS DAYS SO WE CAN MARK THEM BEFORE YOU PLANT YOUR NEW TREE.
