(Boston, MA, Thursday, February 7, 2019) – New England has enough power to weather even the most intense cold snaps. Rather than build polluting, expensive fracked gas pipelines – that will swiftly become obsolete – we need to focus on clean, renewable energy. We must work to drop our climate-damaging emissions, and soon, and the way to get there is clean energy.

The United Nations International Panel on Climate Change Report, released in October, shows that New England – and the world as a whole – needs to pick up the pace when it comes to cutting climate pollution.

We only have 12 years to drastically reduce global carbon pollution if we are to avert climate disaster – much less time than we had thought.

Conservation Law Foundation’s mission is to protect New England’s environment for the benefit of all people. It uses the law, science and the market to create solutions that preserve our natural resources, build healthy communities, and sustain a vibrant economy.

Thanks to CLF’s relentless advocacy – in courtrooms, in statehouses, and in boardrooms from New England to Washington D.C. – today Boston Harbor, once considered the dirtiest in the nation, is now the pride of the city; Georges Bank is free from oil and gas rigs; Lake Champlain’s polluted waters are getting cleaner; and New England’s remaining obsolete coal plants are on the verge of shutting down for good.
