(Norfolk, VA, Thursday, May 21, 2020) – While social distancing and washing our hands are important factors in containing COVID-19, PETA is suggesting there has never been a better time to try vegan.

With shelter-in-place, new social distancing protocols, and shortages of meat, people have more time than ever to experiment with vegan recipes (free from meat, dairy, eggs, or any other animal-derived ingredients), and PETA is answering more enquiries about like “What should I do with tofu?” and “What are the best plant-based milks?”

Happily, vegan eating has never been easier. Plant-based meals and ingredients can be found in every local grocery stores and online, and soy, almond, oat, and coconut milks abound at our local coffee shops. If you’re not savvy in the kitchen, you can also get a vegan meal at just about any restaurant (takeout included).

Faith Robinson, Senior Strategist for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) will discuss why now is a good time to try vegan meals and give tips and recipes to prepare means without animal-derived ingredients.
