Florida Power & Light Urges Floridians to be Prepared and Stay Safe This Hurricane Season
Chris McGrath and Mariela Quintanilla, Spokespeople for Florida Power & Light Company
(Juno Beach, FL., Tuesday, May 31, 2016) – Are you prepared for hurricane season? Hurricane season starts on Wednesday, June 1, and even though more than a decade has passed since the last hurricane made direct landfall in Florida, residents can’t get complacent and need to be prepared for the impending storm season. Florida Power & Light (FPL) is providing tips on what listeners can do to get ready and keep their families safe:
- How customers can prepare before, during and after a storm threatens;
- What FPL is doing to reinforce and harden the electrical infrastructure;
- Generator safety tips;
- FPL’s power restoration plan; and
- Key storm prep checklist items.
Safety is the cornerstone of FPL’s commitment to customers and employees. They’re urging Floridians to be prepared and be aware of potential electrical hazards at all times, especially before, during and after severe weather. When outages do occur, crews work to restore power as soon as it is safe to begin and provide the best estimates of when service will be restored.
