The Success of Business Depends On Making Proven Investments That Spur Growth
Todd Geiman with the Alliance for Childhood Education
(Kansas City, KS, Monday, June 20, 2016) – The success of business depends on making proven investments that spur growth. The biggest return on investment that we can make as a state is one that supports high-quality early education programs. When children have access to high quality early learning settings, they are better prepared to succeed throughout school and in life.
Todd Geiman with the Alliance for Childhood Education, discusses the importance of the Children’s Initiatives Fund.
THE IMPORTANCE OF AN INNOVATIVE AND SKILLED WORKFORCE IN KANSAS IS A TOP PRIORITY AND I AM COMMITTED TO BUILDING THAT POOL OF TALENT—STARTING AT THE BEGINNING—ACROSS THE STATE. THAT’S WHY I BELIEVE IN HIGH-QUALITY EARLY EDUCATION FOR ALL KANSAS CHILDREN. WHEN WE INVEST IN OUR KIDS, WE INVEST IN OUR STATE’S FUTURE PROSPERITY. KANSAS CHILDREN SHOULD ALWAYS BE THE STATE’S NUMBER ONE PRIORITY.
AS A BUSINESS LEADER, I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN EXPENSE AND AN INVESTMENT. THAT’S WHY I SUPPORT PUBLIC EDUCATION AT EVERY LEVEL – FROM DIAPERS TO DIPLOMAS. WE KNOW THAT FOR EVERY DOLLAR INVESTED IN EARLY LEARNING, THERE IS A SEVEN DOLLAR RETURN IN SAVINGS ON DROPOUT PREVENTION AND REDUCED INCARCERATION RATES. UNFORTUNATELY, KANSAS LAWMAKERS ARE CONSIDERING RAIDING STATE INVESTMENTS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD. WE MUST BE SURE TO INVEST IN ALL CHILDREN AT THE EARLIEST LEVELS. OUR CHILDREN ARE AN INVESTMENT WE CAN’T AFFORD TO SHORTCHANGE.
