The Real Warriors Campaign Offers Tools and Resources For Service Members and Veterans in Need

Major Ed Pulido, United States Army (Retired)

Stations, the following is a news announcement.  Suggested lead in 3, 2, 1…

(INTRO)

Experiencing psychological stress as a result of deployment or other life transitions is common. The Real Warriors campaign offers tools and resources 24-hours a day for service members and veterans who may be experiencing invisible wounds. During National Suicide Prevention Month, the campaign encourages warriors and their families to reach out for support.

Retired Army Major Ed Pulido, a Purple Heart recipient, describes how the campaign resources helped him.

(PULIDO)

I WAS WOUNDED BY AN I-E-D BLAST IN IRAQ AND LOST MY LEFT LEG, WHEN I RETURNED HOME I FACED PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL CHALLENGES, INCLUDING THOUGHTS OF SUICIDE. WHAT TURNED THINGS AROUND FOR ME WAS REACHING OUT FOR AND ACCEPTING SUPPORT FROM OTHERS, AND FOCUSING ON HELPING SERVICE MEMBERS AND FAMILIES IN SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES.  I ENCOURAGE OTHER WARRIORS TO ACCESS AVAILABLE TOOLS AND RESOURCES LIKE THE REAL WARRIORS CAMPAIGN.
