(INTRO)

The mission of palliative and end-of-life care is to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones. Now, a local institution has been honored with a Circle of Life Citation of Honor for its innovation in palliative care and for improving the care of patients near the end of life. It is being held up as a model for others in the field.

Rana Limbo, Manager of Bereavement and Advance Care Planning at Gunderson Health System describes their award-winning program:

(LIMBO)

FAMILIES AND PATIENTS ARE AT THE CENTER OF ALL THAT WE DO AT GUNDERSON HEALTH SYSTEM AND THAT CERTAINLY INCLUDES ADVANCE CARE PLANNING AND PALLIATIVE CARE. IN ALL SETTINGS, OUR SYSTEM IS INTEGRATED AND IS VIEWED BY PROVIDERS AS A VITAL AND COMPASSIONATE COMPONENT OF THE CARE NECESSARY FOR PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES.
